HEADSHOTS FOR EVERY FIELD
What to Wear
So you've scheduled your headshot session. Great! Now, what in the world are you going to wear? You open your closet and you're a little overwhelmed with the possibilities. Well, that's why I'm creating this guide. You can refer back to it when you're getting ready.
First, what is the purpose of the photo? What are you trying to project? Do you work for a corporate company where your photos need to say "Professional, Sophisticated, Successful"? Or are you in a creative field where they should say "Fun, Laid Back, Flexible" Are you a model? Let's take all of that into consideration.
A few general rules for everyone:
Iron out those wrinkles. Bring your top on a hanger and change in the studio when you arrive.
Avoid wearing colors that are too similar to your skin tone. Red skin? Wear cooler colors.
Groom those strays. Facial hair should be intentional. You'll want to trim or remove any hair on your eyebrows, nose, chin, upper lip or ears that you don't want the world to see.
Your hands may make an appearance in your photos. Moisturize and make sure your nails are trimmed and clean.
